Tara Toastmasters Club

Tara Toastmasters is a voluntary club, which is devoted the learning and practicing communication and leadership skills in a safe and supportive environment.  Tara meets in the Stillorgan Park Hotel, Stillorgan Road, Dublin 18, on the first, third and fifth Thursday of each month (excluding July and August) at 19:45 p.m.  The club is open to anybody who is interested in the practice of public speaking.

 

Tara Toastmasters was chartered as a club with Toastmasters International in December 1985 and club activities are based around the Toastmasters International Educational Programme. 

 

In March 2004, Tara Toastmasters was honoured with a visit from Toastmasters International President Ted Corcoran (2003-4).    It was a wonderful evening full of friendship, inspiration and possibilities (photo).

 

The Mission of a Toastmasters Club

To provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn, foster self-confidence and personal growth.

 

Toastmasters International

 

Toastmasters International is an organisation with 235,000 current members in 11,700 Clubs in 92 countries.  These clubs are grouped by Area, Division and District.  Tara Toastmasters Club ‘3141’is part of Area ‘18’ (in South County Dublin), Division ‘C’ (on the east coast of Ireland) and District ‘71’ (which covers the British Isles).  Inter-club competitions are a regular part of the annual cycle.  The winners of the District Contests get the opportunity to compete at world level, every Autumn.

 

Ted Corcoran, DTM, from Dublin (home club Fingal Toastmasters [6255]) became President of Toastmasters International.  Ted’s Presidential Theme for 2003 - 2004 was “Your Dreams are Your Possibilities”.
